Domino's Pizza
Experimenting- Pizza delivery
- ~10,200 employees
- No AI return reported
- AI Tracker ready times (Mar 2026)
- Tech chief left Aug 2026
Domino's Pizza builds most of its AI in-house: about 80 data scientists ran about 15 machine learning models in Apr 2024, and since Mar 2026 a custom engine in DomOS, its store operating system, sets order ready times in the Domino's Tracker. Microsoft, already Domino's primary cloud provider, agreed in Oct 2023 to build generative AI with Domino's on Azure OpenAI Service. Domino's reports no business return it credits to AI and no count of employees using AI tools, and technology chief Kelly Garcia left in Aug 2026.
dominos.comTheir approach to AI
- The platform
- Domino's has named no AI platform for employees. Domino's data science team deploys its models into the e-commerce and in-store systems through its own MLOps pipeline (Apr 2024), and DomOS, the store operating system built on the PULSE point of sale, runs the custom engine that has set Tracker ready times since Mar 2026.
- The models
- Domino's builds its own machine learning models, about 15 in production in Apr 2024, describes its Tracker engine as custom, and chose Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service for generative AI in Oct 2023; Domino's has not said which large language models, if any, run in production.
- The reach
- Domino's AI reaches customers who track orders in its app or on dominos.com, and its forecasting models feed supply chain and labor planning. Domino's has announced no AI assistant for its about 10,200 employees or for franchise staff, and its orchestration agent ran in about six stores in Feb 2026.
- The catch
- Domino's reports no return it credits to AI and no count of employees using AI tools, the generative AI store manager assistant it announced with Microsoft in Oct 2023 has not reappeared in its disclosures, and both its technology chief and its analytics chief left in 2026.

Key findings
Domino's updated its Tracker on Mar 24, 2026 with a custom AI order-tracking engine, powered by its in-house DomOS store system, that blends real-time inputs from store team members with machine learning models to estimate when an order will be ready.
Zack Fragoso, Domino's head of MLOps, said in Apr 2024 that Domino's data science team had grown from 10 to 15 data scientists in 2018 to about 80, and that it ran about 15 machine learning and AI models for ready times, delivery estimates and routing, demand and labor forecasting, store siting, personalization and pricing.
Domino's has reported no business return it credits to AI, at firm level or for any use case: Joe Jordan said on Oct 13, 2026 that Domino's orchestration agent, which holds an order out of the store's view until a driver will be back to take it, will bring some efficiency gains, without giving a figure; the agent ran in about six stores in Feb 2026 and is still in store tests.
Domino's and Microsoft announced a five-year alliance on Oct 3, 2023 to build generative AI on Azure OpenAI Service, including a store manager assistant with pilots expected within six months; Microsoft was already Domino's primary cloud provider, and Domino's has reported no result from the alliance since.
Domino's lost its two technology and data chiefs in 2026: Stefania Gvillo, Global Chief Analytics and Insights Officer since Sep 2020, had joined McDonald's by May 2026, and Kelly Garcia, Chief Technology and Data Officer, left on Aug 28, 2026 for Ulta Beauty, before Joe Jordan, who had overseen technology as COO since Mar 2025, became CEO on Oct 1, 2026.
Where Domino's sits
- Stage
- Experimenting
Domino's Pizza has reported no business return it credits to AI, at firm level or for any use case: its FY2025 Form 10-K and its earnings releases treat AI as a risk, Joe Jordan said on Oct 13, 2026 that the DomOS orchestration agent still in store tests will bring some efficiency gains without giving a figure, and the route optimization Sandeep Reddy said helped supply chain margin a little in Q3 2026 was not credited to AI. Domino's Pizza has not reported a company-wide AI rollout either: it has reported no AI tool in use by its about 10,200 employees, published no count of employees using AI and named no AI owner since Chief Technology and Data Officer Kelly Garcia left on Aug 28, 2026, so its AI reaches mainly customers, through machine learning ready times in the Tracker (Mar 2026). Domino's Pizza is therefore at Experimenting; one return it credits to AI, such as a measured effect of the Tracker engine or the orchestration agent on cost or sales, would move it to Piloting.

How they deploy
AI inside the store operating system
Domino's puts its customer and store AI into systems it built: DomOS, which Domino's FY2025 Form 10-K describes as the tools, processes and technologies that orchestrate store operations and the flow of orders, sits on PULSE, Domino's proprietary point-of-sale system. The Mar 2026 Tracker update runs on DomOS, and Russell Weiner said in Feb 2026 that ordering and smart dispatch were starting to talk to each other through an orchestration engine. CIO Dive reported in Jul 2026 that Domino's had renamed its IT division Domino's Technology in 2020, amid a push to build technology in-house.
An in-house data science team
Domino's builds its own machine learning. Zack Fragoso, Domino's head of MLOps, said in Apr 2024 that about 80 data scientists ran about 15 models in production, deployed into Domino's e-commerce and in-store platforms, with Python in production and daily accuracy checks and drift alerts. Domino's partnered with Datatron in Mar 2021 to deploy, monitor and govern its models, and InfoWorld reported in Mar 2020 that Domino's trained its order-ready model on NVIDIA DGX-1 servers and kept its data and ML resources on premises.
Microsoft for cloud and generative AI
Domino's and Microsoft announced on Oct 3, 2023 that Domino's would use the Microsoft Cloud and Azure OpenAI Service to personalize and simplify ordering and to build a generative AI assistant for store managers, over a collaboration Kelly Garcia put at five years. The release said Microsoft was already Domino's primary cloud provider and that the two companies would set up an Innovation Lab pairing leaders and engineers to speed smart store and ordering tools to market.
Consistency before efficiency
Domino's frames its store AI around food quality: Russell Weiner said in Apr 2026 that just-in-time pizza making would give customers a more consistent, higher quality product. Joe Jordan said on Oct 13, 2026 that the orchestration agent "will have some efficiency gains, I am sure," but that he is more excited about consistent product and service, which he expects to lift retention and frequency. Kate Trumbull said in Oct 2025 that Domino's became known over the past decade as a technology company that happens to sell pizza, and that the Hungry for MORE strategy brings the focus back to the food.
Cautious language in filings
Domino's FY2024 and FY2025 Forms 10-K both say the company may incorporate traditional and generative AI solutions that may become important to its operations over time, and warn of risks if Domino's comes to depend on AI or fails to adopt it in time. Domino's earnings releases mention AI only among risk factors, its 2025 shareholder letter does not mention it, and its capital spending plans speak of consumer and store technology in general.
- Deployment model
- Domino's runs technology centrally from its Ann Arbor headquarters and pushes it to a store system that was 99% franchised in Q3 2026. Domino's builds the ordering platforms, the PULSE point of sale and DomOS, and its data science team, about 80 people in Apr 2024, builds machine learning models and deploys them into those platforms. U.S. franchisees pay Domino's a technology fee per digital transaction, $0.375 in 2025 and $0.385 from Feb 2026, while international master franchisees pay technology fees under separate agreements. From Mar 2025 Joe Jordan, as COO and President of Domino's U.S., oversaw Domino's technology, with Chief Technology and Data Officer Kelly Garcia running the function until Aug 28, 2026; as CEO from Oct 1, 2026, Jordan plans to leave his former role unfilled and have top executives report to him directly, according to Entrepreneur.
- Model providers
- Domino's builds most of its models itself: its data science team ran about 15 machine learning and AI models in Apr 2024, and Domino's describes the Tracker's ready-time engine as a custom engine in DomOS that blends real-time store inputs with machine learning models (Mar 2026). Domino's named Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service as the base for its generative AI work in Oct 2023 and has not named any other model provider. Domino's tested Dom, its own voice assistant, on phone orders in 20 U.S. stores in Apr 2018. A consumer lawsuit filed in Oct 2024 and dropped in Jan 2025 alleged that Domino's let ConverseNow, an AI voice ordering vendor named as co-defendant, record customer calls to its restaurants and use them to train an automated voice assistant; Domino's has not said whether any store uses voice AI today.
- Data and infrastructure
- Domino's took more than 85% of U.S. retail sales through digital channels in 2025, mainly its website and apps, where customers enter personal information that Domino's retains, and it relaunched its website and mobile web in 2025 and its app by Apr 2026. Domino's said in Oct 2023 that Microsoft was its primary cloud provider, and it carried $16.2 million of capitalized cloud computing implementation costs, net, at Dec 28, 2025, mostly for enterprise systems and infrastructure. InfoWorld reported in Mar 2020 that Domino's ran model inference on an on-premises Kubernetes cluster with four NVIDIA GPUs, with Datatron monitoring the models. Domino's FY2025 Form 10-K says some of its systems are not fully redundant and that the rise of AI may intensify its cybersecurity risks. Domino's has not said where the Tracker's models run today or whether customer data trains them.
Platforms and internal tools
DomOS and Domino's PULSE
DomOS is Domino's operating system for its stores, the combination of tools, processes and technologies that orchestrate store operations and the flow of orders, and its foundation is PULSE, Domino's proprietary point-of-sale system (FY2025 Form 10-K). Domino's runs its Tracker AI engine and its orchestration agent on DomOS.
Domino's MLOps pipelineDatatron added Mar 2021
Domino's MLOps team provides the tools and process that move its data scientists' models into production and into the e-commerce and in-store platforms, with daily accuracy monitoring and drift alerts; Zack Fragoso said in Apr 2024 that it served about 15 models. Domino's added Datatron in Mar 2021 to deploy, monitor and govern models, and uses Posit Connect for apps that let business teams run what-if analyses on model output.

Central technology function and data science team serving a 99% franchised store system
Domino's runs technology as one central function, which built DomOS, PULSE and the ordering platforms that company and franchised stores use, with a separate data science and analytics team of about 80 that builds machine learning models. A Mar 2025 release put Domino's technology under Joe Jordan as COO and President of Domino's U.S., with Kelly Garcia as Chief Technology and Data Officer; Garcia left on Aug 28, 2026, Jordan became CEO on Oct 1, 2026 planning to have top executives report to him directly, and Domino's has not said who now leads technology or AI.
Domino's data science team grew from 10 to 15 data scientists in 2018 to about 80 by Apr 2024, according to Zack Fragoso, Domino's head of MLOps, and Stefania Gvillo led 80 data and research scientists as Global Chief Analytics and Insights Officer until 2026. Domino's had about 10,200 employees at Dec 28, 2025, of whom about 900 were corporate staff and the rest supported company-owned stores, franchise operations and supply chain centers; the people who work in its about 6,900 franchised U.S. stores are franchisees' employees, not Domino's. Domino's technology function, which CIO Dive says the company renamed Domino's Technology in 2020, builds DomOS, PULSE and the e-commerce platforms, and Joe Jordan said on Oct 13, 2026 that Domino's brought forward the launch of a new pizza, the Domino, by working across its operations, marketing and technology teams. Domino's has not named a successor to Kelly Garcia, who led technology until Aug 2026.

Economics & controls
Spend and ROI
Technology spending
Domino's does not disclose a technology budget. Domino's spent $120.6 million on capital expenditures in 2025, mainly on consumer and store technology, supply chain centers and company-owned stores, and expects about $120 million in 2026 (FY2025 Form 10-K). U.S. franchisees fund technology through a fee per digital transaction that Domino's raised to $0.375 at the start of 2025 and to $0.385 in Feb 2026, each time to fund technology initiatives, and Domino's held $16.2 million of capitalized cloud computing implementation costs, net, at Dec 28, 2025.
What AI itself costs
Domino's has not disclosed what it spends on AI, on its data science team, on its Microsoft alliance or on the Tracker AI engine, and AI is not broken out in its capital spending plans or technology fee.
Reported ROI
Domino's has reported no financial return from AI, at the firm level or for any use case. Joe Jordan said on Oct 13, 2026 that the orchestration agent will bring some efficiency gains but that he cares more about consistent product and service, Stefania Gvillo said in Mar 2025 that AI frees savings for other uses without putting a number on them, Russell Weiner said in Feb 2026 that the redesigned website was performing better than the old one, without crediting that to AI, and Sandeep Reddy said on Oct 13, 2026 that route optimization within Domino's supply chain centers helped Q3 2026 supply chain margin a little, a minor impact he did not quantify or credit to AI.
Headcount
Domino's had about 10,200 employees at Dec 28, 2025, down from about 10,700 a year earlier, with corporate staff down from about 1,000 to about 900; Domino's refranchised 37 company-owned stores in 2025 and does not attribute the change to AI.
Governance and risk
Board and risk oversight
Domino's board oversees risk with help from its Audit Committee, which covers information security and cybersecurity with input from an internal Enterprise Risk Committee of executives and senior leaders (2026 proxy statement). Domino's Chief Technology and Data Officer and Chief Information Security Officer brief the Audit Committee on cybersecurity at several meetings a year, according to the FY2025 Form 10-K. Domino's has disclosed no AI policy, AI committee or AI-specific board oversight.
Model monitoring
Domino's MLOps team checks the accuracy of its production models daily and flags drift, Zack Fragoso said in Apr 2024, and anomaly detection once led Domino's to shut down one store's delivery time model after incorrect store data. Domino's adopted Datatron in Mar 2021 partly to govern and validate its models.
Disclosed AI risks
Domino's FY2025 Form 10-K warns that generative AI and AI-generated content speed up negative publicity and boycotts, that the rise of AI may intensify cybersecurity risks, and that incorporating AI may expose Domino's to added risks and expenses if it becomes dependent on AI or fails to adopt it in time. Domino's earnings releases since Feb 2026 list the impact of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, among their risk factors.
Customer data and privacy
Domino's and Microsoft said in Oct 2023 that both are committed to responsible AI practices that protect customer data and privacy. Domino's FY2025 Form 10-K notes that state privacy laws such as the California Privacy Rights Act govern the personal information customers enter in its digital channels. A consumer suit under the California Invasion of Privacy Act, alleging that Domino's let ConverseNow record restaurant calls to train an AI voice assistant, was dropped without prejudice on Jan 29, 2025.
Security operations
Domino's runs a dedicated Security Operations Center team with a tested incident response plan, trains its team members through annual cybersecurity awareness training and phishing simulations, and assesses cyber risk from third-party service providers (FY2025 Form 10-K). Domino's online ordering was disrupted by a third-party technology issue on Apr 24, 2026, during a 50% off promotion.

Quick answers
- How does Domino's Pizza deploy AI?
- Domino's Pizza builds most of its AI in-house: about 80 data scientists ran about 15 machine learning models in Apr 2024, and since Mar 2026 a custom engine in DomOS, its store operating system, sets order ready times in the Domino's Tracker.
- What does Domino's Pizza use AI for?
- Domino's Pizza ran about 15 machine learning and AI models in production in Apr 2024, for order ready times, delivery estimates and routing, demand and labor forecasting, store siting, personalization and pricing, and since Mar 2026 a machine learning engine sets ready times in the Domino's Tracker. Domino's Pizza also tests a DomOS orchestration agent, in about six stores in Feb 2026 and still in tests in Oct 2026, and announced two generative AI tools with Microsoft in Oct 2023 that it has not reported on since. Domino's Pizza reports no business return for any of them and no firm-level AI savings, cost or revenue figure.
- Who leads AI at Domino's Pizza?
- AI at Domino's Pizza is led by Kelly Garcia (Former Executive Vice President, Chief Technology and Data Officer (left Aug 28, 2026)); Stefania Gvillo (Former Senior Vice President, Global Chief Analytics and Insights Officer (Sep 2020 to 2026)); Moneka Krouse (Vice President, Decision Science and Customer Intelligence (joined Jul 2026)). Ownership of AI on the org chart: Chief Technology and Data Officer seat open since Aug 2026; CEO Joe Jordan plans for top executives to report to him directly.
- What AI platform does Domino's Pizza use?
- Domino's has named no AI platform for employees. Domino's data science team deploys its models into the e-commerce and in-store systems through its own MLOps pipeline (Apr 2024), and DomOS, the store operating system built on the PULSE point of sale, runs the custom engine that has set Tracker ready times since Mar 2026.
- Which AI models does Domino's Pizza use?
- Domino's builds its own machine learning models, about 15 in production in Apr 2024, describes its Tracker engine as custom, and chose Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service for generative AI in Oct 2023; Domino's has not said which large language models, if any, run in production.
- How many Domino's employees use AI?
- Domino's AI reaches customers who track orders in its app or on dominos.com, and its forecasting models feed supply chain and labor planning. Domino's has announced no AI assistant for its about 10,200 employees or for franchise staff, and its orchestration agent ran in about six stores in Feb 2026.
- How far has AI spread at Domino's Pizza?
- Domino's Pizza has reported no business return it credits to AI, at firm level or for any use case: its FY2025 Form 10-K and its earnings releases treat AI as a risk, Joe Jordan said on Oct 13, 2026 that the DomOS orchestration agent still in store tests will bring some efficiency gains without giving a figure, and the route optimization Sandeep Reddy said helped supply chain margin a little in Q3 2026 was not credited to AI.
